2026 project update

As we start 2026, we wanted to start the year with an update across our existing projects, focusing on the Class 56 second production run, PXA/JXA with Rails of Sheffield and the Class 47. We hope you had a great Christmas and New Year period.

Class 56 Project

Cavalex Models are pleased to share the second production run of our Class 56 locomotives have left the factory in China, and are on their way to us in the UK. We will of course provide further updates when they are in the UK and on the way to retailers, including three further unannounced members of our second run.

As we revealed alongside the announcement of the identities of the locomotives that form a part of this batch, a few minor tweaks have been made to further improve the model, including:

  • Bogie centre realignment,

  • Sound file tweaks made alongside ESU (To cater for LED style lighting for modern versions),

  • Kinematic coupling redesign; and,

  • Additional roof pod on the modern variants.

The general release range and retailer specials offer a variety of different series and liveries spanning the life of the Class, from BR blue right through to current day Colas and DCRail - catering for the majority of our customer’s needs.

Prior to shipping from China, we received some samples and body shells from the factory – here are a few photos of the models on our scenic board:

The Cavalex Class 56 can be pre-ordered through our retailers listed below:

Please note:- Some body shells have been sat on a chassis from the first production run, meaning that the specific tooling and cosmetic elements are not correct for the forthcoming model. This is for illustration purposes only.

We will share further images of the production samples in due course once they are received in the UK.

Class 47 Project

Cavalex are pleased to report that the Class 47 project has been progressing nicely in the tooling stage to a point where we are confident, we can release the price of the loco without changing it further into the project - with the DCC Ready RRP price being set at £209.95. The price of the DCC sound fitted versions will be £309.95.

Following the past few months of hard work to get to the project to this stage in the process, we are very excited to receive the first shots out of the moulds and will provide a full update on the project once these have been received in the coming months.

We would like to thank all of our customers and followers for their overwhelmingly positive reaction to the project so far. The Class 47 has been our largest challenge yet, with numerous bespoke tooling variations to consider across the range of the Class - we cannot wait to share further updates in due course!

In the meantime we are also pleased to share the initial livery artwork for the models below:
